Donating Fused Glass Coasters -Defending the Endangered

Auctions are a great way for organizations to raise money for their causes.  They’re also an opportunity for artists to contribute.  This winter, I am donating fused glass coasters to the silent auction at the Defending the Endangered Celebrity Gala.  The organization raises money to support efforts that protect animals and their habitat.  I created hand raked glass that combines earth, sea and sky tones.   This expresses the various environments that are being cared for.  Each coaster has a band of color where I kiln carved various designs.  I used the ideas of fur prints, hoof prints, scales and plumage to inspire the designs.

About MCaron

My name is Michelle Caron and I have been working with glass for over 20 years. My studio is in Kane'ohe, Hawaii, on the windward side of the island of Oahu. My passion for exploring glass started during a year spent in France. The kaleidoscope of vibrant colors that filled the Gothic cathedrals grabbed my imagination and never let go. Each project offers opportunities to develop techniques in order to meet new challenges. I find that curiosity, patience and persistence are key to exploring this multifaceted medium. It is a journey that is never dull.
