Enter the Dragon

Year of the Dragon

My husband was born in the Year of the Dragon and for his birthday this year, a dragon element was important.

This piece started out as an experiment in glass raking (sometimes called combing).  I liked the result but was viewing it from a different angle.  When I showed it to my husband, he said, “If you turn it, there’s a dragon.”  He was so right.  As soon as he showed me the dragon, that was all I could see.

The raked glass, with its new orientation, was included in a fused glass piece and became a birthday gift for the dragon who lives in my house.  Enter the dragon.
